A CT Coronary Angiograph (CTCA) is a state-of-the-art, non-invasive heart imaging test designed to assess the health of your coronary arteries — the vital blood vessels that supply oxygen to your heart. Using advanced CT technology with contrast dye, this scan produces highly detailed 3D images that allow our specialists to visualise plaque build-up, narrowing (stenosis), or blockages that may increase your risk of heart attack or cardiovascular disease.
As cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of preventable death worldwide, early detection of arterial changes is one of the most powerful tools in modern preventative medicine. A CT Coronary Angiograph enables our clinicians to identify coronary atherosclerosis at its earliest stage — long before symptoms such as chest pain or shortness of breath appear, allowing for timely intervention, lifestyle optimisation, and targeted treatment to protect your heart health.
Due to the risks of radiation, all scans are performed off-site at a partner facility. Review of results is performed by the doctors at Karma Health either in person at our Deansgate clinic or remotely.
The CTCA is conducted with our partner facility. The scan is quick, safe, and non-invasive, taking around 30 minutes. A small amount of contrast dye is injected into a vein to highlight your heart’s arteries. You’ll lie on the scanner while detailed images of your heart are taken. You may be asked to hold your breath briefly during the scan. Once complete, you can resume normal activities straight away.
Results are then sent to the doctors at Karma Health for review, and a report is generated. Your clinician will then contact you for a review of the results as well as further advice.
DEXAs are available as a standalone request and are also included in the following Karma+ tiers: Optimum.
