Traditionally, health and fitness have been treated as separate goals — medicine focused on disease, while fitness centred on performance. The PERFORM plan bridges this gap.
Building on the CORE plan, it includes essential health checks — blood tests, ECG, and clinical observations — and adds advanced fitness assessments such as VO₂ Max testing and body composition analysis. VO₂ Max is widely recognised as a key predictor of longevity, while body composition offers insights into overall metabolic health.
At Karma, we uniquely combine medical and fitness diagnostics to help you optimise both health and performance. Evidence shows that higher VO₂ Max and lower body fat are strongly linked to reduced risk of chronic diseases. Take control of your longevity — enquire today.
Book NowThe PERFORM plan was designed for those interested in the quality of life as they age. We recommend this plan to fit clients with a strong baseline of health or those with no known medical conditions.
With this plan you will:
1) Undergo clinical observations to discover signs of hidden disease
2) Identify problems with the heart’s rhythm.
3)) Have blood tests checked for the root markers of diseases associated with ageing.
4)) Undertake sports testing to assess your overall fitness and body composition.
For those interested in a more comprehensive suite of medical tests including heart scans to look at the health of the heart, heart monitors for rhythm problems, resting metabolic rates and medical consultations, we would recommend the PREVENT plan.
Our medical team designed our longevity blood profile to identify many risk factors for disease as we age. Our specialists strongly believe this constitutes the ‘basic’ blood panel clients should receive annually as part of an essential health check.
ECGs are vital markers of cardiac health. An ECG, also known as a heart trace, gives your clinician an understanding of the rhythm of your heart and its pace. This allows us to identify underlying heart abnormalities which may increase your risk of strokes and collapses. The rate of your heart can also act as a surrogate marker for overall cardiac health.
A full set of clinical observations annually includes assessment of bloods pressure, blood oxygen, heart rate and temperature. This provides your clinician with a baseline to identify basic problems with the heart, lungs or signs of infection.
At Karma, we do not use outdated and simplistic metrics such as Body Mass Index. Instead, our body composition scanner gives you an in-depth understanding of your body from “bad” fat around the waist and body fat percentage to water retention and muscle mass.
The VO2 max refers to the maximum rate of oxygen the body consumes during exercise. The VO2 Max acts as a good proxy marker for overall cardiorespiratory fitness. A high VO2 max indicates better fitness and a longer predicted lifespan. In contrast, a low VO2 max is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Work by Mandsager et al., demonstrated an improvement in VO2 max from low to above average decreased mortality by more than 50%. This paper, and many others highlight the importance of regular VO2 max testing to monitor lifelong fitness and mortality risk.
